The only notable exception being the sporran-which is nothing like a murse. And definitely enhances the manliness of the wearer.

you mean the shoelaces?

Let's get to the shoelaces later and celebrate the sporran! I think you need the fancy shoelaces to complete the look-tennis shoes don't quite add the same je ne sais pas quoi. The sporran is pretty essential-a man in a kilt without a sporran runs the risk of the 'fresh out of the shower' look. We give it a thumbs up anyways.

back to the laces for just a moment.. those are his Dancin' Shoes! when he wears those that kilt can.... fly UP! ( think about it...) now, back to your regular programming.

I'd like to clarify that it is the kilt that makes those chaps sexy and not the underfed "waif" look...

(this is in reply to the last post on the first page of the threat, did not see there was a second page)
i always thought it was the penis that made people manly ... (who was that who used to have a signature on tt that said something about having boobs and ovaries being girly enough?)
though i find purses impractical usually, compared to a backpack, so i am wondering why anyone would want them, male or female ... (except now i have to use one sometimes, too, because when i cycle my backpack is right in a's face - it is a very big shoulder bag though, and worn with the strap on the opposite shoulder, like in the first picture of the post right above ...) anyway, is an "umhängetasche" the same as a purse, no matter the size? or is a purse only a "handtasche"?

Neatly demonstrating the problem Rikita- there is a German word for each and you know where you stand.
With English, you need to know the context and the speaker to know what the same word may mean.

My relatives in the South call all of those things a "pocketbook".

The second item is a coin purse. Quite right Kerouac, and a purse goes in a handbag. (Which is the first item) What does a true Scotsman wears under his kilt? Tug of war in kilts

where is that pic of the guy next to the Queen?? It has historically been a British military requirement that men be naked under their kilt. This is a custom that endures to this day. Being "commando" under one's kilt is referred to as wearing "Traditional" Scottish dress, or "going Regimental".
The only occasions when a Scottish Soldier in uniform can (and should) wear underwear is when dancing or performing gymnastics.Note: It is considered impolite to inquire of a kilted man as to whether anything is being worn underneath it all.

Handbag and change purse. I don't think I've heard "coinpurse".

Come to think of it, the Scottish are quite fond of murses. Even the musical instruments look like them. Coincidence?

Can't fault the Scottish for not accessorizing.

I read that as sporranged. Which would mean that you'd been attacked by something like the fruiting bodies of the mold on a piece of bread.
