I don't know the reason yet, but i will ask. A friend, who is a tree gardener (if you can say so) said there was a change of laws, and now if there is the slightest chance that a branch could come down during a storm they cut the tree..... stupid....

Humblest apologies to the Monarch butterfly's that have been in my garden this year. Just pulled out all the Cosmos plants not realising that that is the food they were looking for in my garden. I've kept the swan plants and the pumpkin but learned today that this is only of use to the caterpillars and not the adult fly.

Kuski - welllll, you CAN plant more cosmos! Just don't let the dreaded milkweed take over - they love it, but..... it will eat your garden and then the whole streets and then....

Staying at my daughter's house in Brighton. My ex has a granny flat on the ground floor. So this morning we went for a walk - me, Mrs Fax and my ex. Made me seriously glad I had moved on.

AUgh. Light snow, -4C, but with wind gusts up to 50 kph. Do I go for my long run outside today, trying to find a non-slushy and non-icy path? Or do I just go to the stupid treadmill?

Oooooh. OOOOOh. Oooooooooooh.
(No, probably not what you think. It's actually a friend's recent rendition of Shakespeare which cracked me up.)

Same dilemma as Saturday. To run outside in the fresh, wet snow, or resign myself to a stupid treadmill? And if I do go outside, do I run hills like my schedule says I should today, or do I wait till Thursday and hope the conditions are better then?

If it's really wet, you'll probably get wet feet which will be cold and may cause blisters. If it's icy, you are likely to fall. So I'd use the treadmill and get the hill runs in that way, Scrubb.

It's supposed to be hill sprints, though - uphill for 45-50 seconds, jog down to recover, over and over for 6 kms. I don't think I can replicate that on a treadmill!
It should have stopped snowing by the time I'm going to run (in 4 hours) but I think it might be a bit slippery for trying to run up and down hills.
My amazing socks stop me worrying about blisters - they're double layered and even though I've gotten wet feet on 3 different runs in the last few weeks, not a blister to be seen - it's great!

Ah yeah, the treadmill tends to be a bit slow at changing gradient so probably can't replicate what you had planned. Good luck with the run if you go outdoors - you're far braver than I am!

On Saturday it was snowing lightly, with some wind - it actually turned out just fine for a long easy run.

Lumi - it was just too wet/slushy/possibly icy - I hit the treadmill. Hopefully it'll be better for hills in a couple of days.
