Some words pass me by, I know what they mean and I think no more on it. On of these was Sarcophagus, a stone coffin or such like. Whenever I read the word sarcophagus, I immediately picture Detective Chief Inspector Barnaby of Midsomer Murders and the sarcophagus which I think was the receptacle of a rather nasty murder.

Starbucks (at least in the UK) has stopped using plastic straws. Hooray. Well done. The world has been saved. Instead they are using sippy lids. Hang on a minute. Hold the applause. The sippy lids use more plastic than the straws did.

Lena Horne was born about half a mile and seventy odd years from the street location of "Do the Right Thing".

Jack Nicholson turned down the role of Michael Corleone because he believed that actors should stick to playing characters of their own ethnicity. what I don't understand about that, is that italians are white europeans, so same ethnicity. In 2004, Nicholson revealed what he believed very firmly at the time: "Back then I believed that Indians should play Indians and Italians should play Italians. Mario Puzo had written such a great book that if you go back to it, you'll see so much of what was special about the movie."I’ll try to add the link. Jack Nicholson and The Godfather

A new description for something which has many names - Loin instigated! ? DS Ben Jones: Odds on it's loin-instigated; got to be. If it involved Rex. 'Loin-instigated' is a euphemism for 'sexually motivated‘. I like Jonesy who is a little like his predecessor DS Gavin Troy. Troy was good though - very good.

listened to a cello version of lagrima by tarrega yesterday, and it feels now like i only really understand the melody now and am playing it completely different than before. have to listen to some guitar versions again to compare and figure out if i play it better now or better before - right now, it comes out different automatically, when i play it ...

Two new words, condign and flagitious. I already knew the meaning of perfidiousness - perfidy and all that. Condign punishment was the phrase that started it.

Tzarine, that has been done in a few television shows, including Father Brown. Naturally there was a murder. There always is in Father Brown. Including our regulars Lady Felicia, Mrs M and whatsishame the odd job man.
